Ascros

Medical Robotics

Robotics for humans – rehabilitation that measures every movement

ascros is the medical line of a closed-loop rehabilitation platform for arms and legs. It is developed by Swissrehamed GmbH in Chur, Switzerland, on the same hardware as the sports line craPos.

The device

The ascros-test-bench

  • Four drives: two for the arms, two for the legs
  • Every drive is also a sensor: position, speed, torque
  • Closed-loop control at 400 Hz, measured in the lab
  • The phase between the limbs is measured, not commanded – the device follows the person

Research prototype in the Srm-Lab, Chur. Not CE marked, not FDA cleared, not available for sale.

Measured

What the device already delivers

Torque of all four limbs over three seconds, recorded in a manned run.

Measurement of 19 September 2026: torque of the four drives for right and left arm and right and left leg
Srm-Lab, 19 September 2026, 25 rpm, 400 Hz, real time without simulation. The figure shows the sports name craPos – same hardware. No patient data.

The platform

Any device with any game: ECP-UGC

The device reports what it can measure, the game reports what it needs, and the platform connects the two. The device stays unchanged.

Relatives send photos, voice messages and texts. The therapist decides what appears in which session, and the game shows it as a personal reward.

Developed in the Innosuisse project 44539.1 (2020–2022) with OST, SUPSI and FHGR. All rights with Swissrehamed. ecp-ugc.swissrehamed.ch

Indications

One core, two indication modules

Switzerland and EU

Multiple sclerosis first

Clinical investigation with SUPSI planned; approval by the ethics committee and Swissmedic sought. Target: medical device under the EU MDR.

USA

Stroke

A first FDA pre-submission was filed in 2025 and will be revised. Stroke is the indication for the US market.

Shared core: hardware, real-time control, risk file, software and data layer. Indications are modules on top.

Business model

Deep, not broad – capital-light, not capital-heavy

The rehabilitation robotics market has shown that owning devices and markets alone does not create value. ascros draws its own conclusions from it.

One real mechanism

A patent-protected closed-loop system instead of a collection of third-party devices.

Partners carry market access

Licences with quality agreements and design transfer – the rollout is not financed from own equity.

Evidence, not showcase

Clinical partners for genuine validation, and the loop from patient outcome to reimbursement in view from the start.

Organisation

Swissrehamed as the core – two planned steps towards the market

Today

Swissrehamed GmbH

Switzerland. Holds the intellectual property and research and development, builds the quality system, and licenses the platform.

Planned

Ascros Inc.

Delaware, USA. FDA pathway, US clinical partnerships, reimbursement.

Planned

Ascros Europe GmbH

Distribution in Europe. The exact form will be agreed with a European partner.

Both companies are forward-integration steps. Their order follows the market: the US first, Europe first, or both in parallel.

Status

Where ascros stands, November 2026

Running today

  • ascros-test-bench measuring at 400 Hz
  • ECP-UGC platform services on a Swiss server

In development

  • Connector from the ascros-test-bench to ECP-UGC
  • Therapy and family interfaces back online
  • Session data storage

Intellectual property

  • EP 2 364 686 B1, granted 2015
  • PCT/EP2024/076634, pending
Important: ascros is a research device. It is not CE marked, not cleared by the FDA and not available for sale. Ascros Inc. and Ascros Europe GmbH are planned and not yet founded.
